7 Signs Your Dog Isn’t Getting Enough Exercise

Sufficient exercise is important to all dogs, but some little guys need more. Small dogs only require regular walks twice a day, while working dogs may take longer. Even without considering the breed of the dog, the individual differences of each dog are very large. If you think that the dog has enough exercise, but it shows the performance of insufficient exercise in the following list, I am afraid you should make it more active.

1. The easiest way to find a dog’s lack of exercise is its weight. Overweight dogs need to exercise (may also need to reduce food), maintaining a healthy weight is very important. Just like humans, overweight dogs bring more health risks.

2. All dogs will destroy objects when they are bored. Bored dogs will vent their energy on your furniture, walls, garden, and your precious personal belongings (destroying walls may be a sign of separation anxiety, depending on the situation). If your dog severely damages household items, you need to consider whether this is just a lack of exercise.

3. Dogs will bark when they are bored, especially when you are not at home. The dog will try to communicate with the owner in many ways, and barking can immediately attract the owner’s attention. Usually, all the dogs want to tell us is that they want to go out and play! The suppressed energy is often expressed through vocalization.

4. Do you have a dog that can’t play well? Some owners are willing to wrestle with the dog, if the dog shows too much excitement is usually to vent the excess energy. The more the dog’s energy is suppressed, the less they can control themselves and play gently with their owners.

5. Many owners find that their dogs have difficulty sleeping at night, or are very awakened by the movement around the house. Insufficient exercise will make it difficult for dogs to stabilize. If they cannot vent their energy, they will become overly anxious and begin to pace. Lack of exercise can cause harm to the dog’s body and mind.

6. At home, you may have a perfect, obedient dog, but if it is too excited or difficult to control outdoors, it means that the dog is not exercising enough. Towing a leash does not always mean bad behavior. It may indicate that the dog is energetic and needs a run instead of a slow walk.

7. When a dog disturbs the owner, again and again, some dogs are too annoying and sticky to the owner again and again. Does your dog use its nose to arch you, put the toy on your lap, whine and bark, wander aimlessly around you, seeking your attention all day long? This must indicate the amount of exercise the dog is doing Seriously insufficient.
